In the spring of 2011, the Samford track and field and soccer programs moved into a new home, the Samford Track and Soccer Complex. Construction of the state-of-the-art facility began in August 2010 and was finished during the summer 2011. The stadium includes locker rooms, a ticket office and a high-tech press box. With the addition of the facility, Samford has already hosted several Southern Conference Soccer and Track & Field Championships in the facility.
Samford University dedicated its track and soccer stadium Friday, April 22, 2011, hours before student-athletes christened it with SoCon track and field championship competition.
The complex, which includes a nine-lane track with a regulation soccer field inside the track, is located just across Lakeshore Drive from the campus.
On Sept. 24, 2021, Shauna Yelton Field was officially dedicated at the Samford Track & Soccer Stadium. Yelton, the late wife of Samford women's soccer head coach Todd Yelton, lost her battle with cervical cancer in November of 2015. She was a proud member of the Samford community, being the former Director of Health Services where she provided care to the campus community and its employees. She was also an avid fan of Samford Athletics, supporting not only the Samford soccer team, but all programs across the board.
The complex has a seating capacity of 1,200, with 360 chair-back seats. A 300-square-foot press box sits atop the grandstand. A 5,000-square-foot support building houses concessions, ticket booth, restrooms, storage and locker rooms.
